As some of you may know, we have a brand new location with a beautiful new studio for product demonstrations and testing. Recently, Bob Connelly and console expert Gilbert Perales from Loppnow and Associates (representing Presonus, among others), came by to christen our studio. They didn’t bring a bottle of champagne to smash on the wall, but the atmosphere was pretty giddy anyway as they demonstrated the Presonus Studio Live 16.4.2 digital mixer. Selling for under $2k, this 16-channel console for live performance and recording offers a lot for the price. It is loaded with features such as sweet-sounding XMAX preamps, a built-in FireWire recording interface, analog I/O, not to mention more lights and buttons per dollar than anything in its class! And its comprehensive digital effects and sound processing could make the singing of drunken sailors sound like a heavenly choir. Best of all, it is easy to use. Most of our sales staff bellied right up to it and were able to start mixing and adding effects to tracks within seconds. So who needs alcohol? There’s nothing more intoxicating than having complete power and control over a mix, don’t you think?
